At the end of the day, as long as you've done your research in advanced and are confident that you have picked out the right pieces for your dining room area, chances are you will not regret the decisions you have made. Obviously, you will need to adjust some of your pieces over time as you start experimenting with different styling techniques, but that's all in good fun - you learn as you go along, and you will eventually be an expert in knowing what does and does not look good in your dining room area.
Choose the Right Area Rug- An area rug can quickly become the centerpiece to any formal dining room. Make sure you choose a rug that compliments the wall coverings and decorations, but also one that is approximately three feet larger than the table itself. This will avoid the back legs of the chair from going off the rug when the chairs are slid backwards.
The dining room doesn't have to be the forgotten room. Get creative and don't be afraid to think outside of the box to create a room that is sure to be remembered and make a splash. Remember to personalize the space and make it something that's useful.
Blank wall space doesn't do much to enhance the décor of any room, and in a dining room it can make the room seem cold and unwelcoming. To create a focal point, you can use one large item and accent it with smaller items or you can create a wall grouping with several smaller items. For example, you could start with a large painting, a wrought iron or an architectural wall hanging, a tapestry or mirror and accent it with smaller coordinating items, such as candle wall sconces, vintage plates or cast iron accents. Or creating a stunning arrangement with a visually interesting collage of smaller pieces: tie them together by color, theme, or material.
What you need to remember when it comes to hickory dining furniture is that your other elements should match well with the hardwood. Decorate your kitchen tables and dining room tables with bright-colored pieces - sunshiney yellows, bright blues, and vibrant reds would do well for hickory. Because the shades of brown that your hickory furniture will cast are quite common and universal, it is very easy to jazz up your kitchen tables and dining room tables.
