The furniture should fit the room. Many people make the mistake of packing as much furniture in as possible, but all this achieves is a cluttered appearance and your room looking smaller that it really is. If you can only fit a 6- or 8-seater table in your room, then that is all you should have.
Still, there are a lot of things you can do to accommodate a dining room table and chairs, even in a small space. And these little tricks can let you offer maximum seating in very little square footage.
Also adding a chandelier or suspended lamp above the dining table can be the addition of an excellent decorative element which will enhance the entire area. Incandescent track lights are another option; they can be a striking addition when used to highlight a table centerpiece or to light artwork, hutches or serving tables along the walls.
These rooms can be large or small. They may be completely separate rooms or flow into other spaces. They may even be part of another room, such as the kitchen and may be well used, saved for special occasions only, or purely ornamental.
Another option for your dining room table and chairs is to get a table that is long yet not very wide. When placed lengthwise in a room, it can make the room longer. It offers the added benefit of leaving more space around the table and chairs itself, allowing guests more convenience and a little more elbow room. If you use chairs on one side and a bench on the other side of a skinnier table, you can gain even more room in a small dining area.
